SUMMARY:Nature Sunday: Surprising Sand and Sediment
DESCRIPTION:What is sand? Where does it come from? What is it made of? How does it get to beaches? Each grain of sand started millions of years ago deep in the earth. The sand on each beach is like a fingerprint — it’s unique to the particular beach where you find it. Take a virtual walk on the beach and then examine grains of sand from local and far-flung beaches through a microscope and answer your questions. Join Robbie Revel and learn all about it! \nRobbie has always had a love of nature and science and an insatiable curiosity. She had a 48- year teaching career in high school science and was Director of Quest in Science\, an elementary hands-on science program in LA. Retired and active in the volunteer community\, she loves to share her love of nature with others. She regularly conducted workshops called Saturday Science at the Museum of Natural History before COVID and is presently serving on the board of the Morro Coast Audubon Society as Field Trip Chair and actively leading bird walks. \nFree registration includes attendance at Nature Sunday and covers garden admission for the day.|\nPre-registration is encouraged \nPlease Note: El Chorro Regional Park charges a $5 day use fee from March thru October on Fridays\, Saturdays\, Sundays and Holidays. \n
