Nature Sunday: California’s Wildfires and Prevention with Retired Fire Chief Bob Neumann

A presentation about California’s wildfires, including the state’s unique topography, weather and fuels that cause them. The building industry, fire hazard mapping and fuel hazard reduction will be discussed along with information about the SLO County Community Fire Safe Council. Participants will visit SLO Botanical Garden’s Fire Safe demonstration garden.

About the Instructor: Bob Neumann retired as Fire Chief from the San Luis Obispo City Fire Department in 2002. He is the founder and coordinator of the SLO County Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT). Bob serves on a federal Incident Management Team and is the principal emergency management consultant for Category Five Professional Consultants, Inc.
