Nature Sunday: The Sun, Seasons & Autumnal Equinox
September 22, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free
Celebrate Fall and the Autumnal Equinox – which occurs on 9/22 at 5:43am PST!
David Gibbs will present a brief introduction to the sun and explain how its position in the sky determines the season (equinox and solstice). He’ll review several ways to safely observe the sun and everyone will get an opportunity to observe the sun through his solar telescope.
About our instructor: David Ellis is a retired part-time lecturer in the materials and manufacturing engineering departments at Cal Poly. An avid amateur solar observer, Davide is a member of the Central Coast Astronomical Society (CCAS). He has multiple telescopes and travels to every eclipse that he can! Children under 14 are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
Thanks to generous donors, Nature Sundays are free and includes admission to the Garden.
