Join us for a family friendly cultural experience focused on the Dabke Dance, a traditional Arab line dance from the Levantine region that combines rhythmic stomping and synchronized footwork. Dabke is practiced at weddings and community gatherings as a joyful expression of unity and cultural pride. The dance is deeply tied to the land and widely believed to have evolved from a mix of ancient agricultural rituals and community building practices- literally stomping mud and straw to make mud houses. Dabke dance is full of enthusiasm and energy bringing people together hand to hand and its people and land!
Instructor Sandra Sarrouf M.A. is Faculty with Cal Poly Theatre and Dance and Director of Cultural Creations Collaborative. Her radiant joy and deep cultural pride is most evident when she shares her heritage through dance, music, and community.
